Ring Making and Stone Setting 1-2 day course
This course is open to beginners and those who have previous knowledge of silversmithing.
Learn the skills of silversmithing in this one or two day workshop. You will learn how to measure, form, pierce, anneal and solder sterling silver whilst making a series of rings using different gauge wire and silver sheet. Each item made will be finished by learning how to file, sand and polish.
If you would like to add detail to your rings learn how to texture using hammers, the rolling mill and wire or maybe learn to make silver granules to enhance your design.
This class is suitable for individuals or couples wishing to make each other a wonderful ring!
if you choose to add a gemstone to your design please book on to a second workshop day. The focus will then be on stone setting with cabochon style gemstones using a rub over technique.
Learn how to create a bezel and setting, improving your soldering and silversmithing skills.
A variety of cabochon style gemstones will be available to purchase at a small cost from Jackie or choose to bring your own. Please discuss with Jackie prior to your course to ensure you choose an ideal size and stone to work on if this is your first stone set ring.
Those who have previous knowledge are also welcome to consolidate their skills.
